Mason, OH – Thomas Zant, formerly President of the OPW Fluid Transfer Group's Midland Manufacturing division, Skokie, IL, a global leader in railroad tank car safety valves and equipment, has been named Vice President of OPWFTG's Global Transportation Business Unit.
This is a new position as OPWFTG, in an effort to further enhance the organization's ability to provide its global customer base with industry-leading solutions, has streamlined its four business units and eight global operations into two global business units: OPWFTG Global Transportation and OPWFTG Global Chemical & Industrial. Zant will oversee the operation of the Global Transportation Business Unit and its two market-focused entities, the Global Rail Business Unit and the Global Cargo Tank/Truck Business Unit. Each business unit will be backed by OPWFTG's market-leading brands, including Civacon, Midland, Hiltap and OPW Engineered Systems. In this position, Zant will report directly to OPWFTG President Tim Warning.
Zant was named President of Midland Manufacturing in June 2007, with responsibility for the overall direction of the company and a special emphasis on accelerating new product development and enhancing the company's goal of reaching 100% customer satisfaction. Immediately prior to joining Midland, Zant spent four years as a General Manager in the Siemens Water Technologies/US Filter Corporation, and he has also held positions with Pall Corporation, Harper-Wyman Corporation and General Dynamics Corporation. Zant holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
